Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Red Shoe Crew?

The Red Shoe Crew is a group of young professionals and students in the Baltimore, MD and surrounding area associated with the Ronald McDonald House of Baltimore. The group volunteers at the House, hosts networking and social events for its members, and raises money for the House.

Is there an age limit to the group?

The Crew is made up of young professionals and students in the age range of 22-39.

What does the Crew do?
The group concentrates its efforts in 3 core areas: Service, Events, and a Signature Event. Service – The service opportunities are at the very core of the Red Shoe Crew. We all recognize the need to raise funds so The House can continue to provide for the families who call it home. A major way we will contribute to The House is through volunteering our time and energy. The Crew volunteers at the House on a regular basis through breakfasts, dinners, activity hours, and McBlitz days. There is no requirement for members to attend a specific number of volunteer events, but it’s the best way to connect with the mission of the House, the families staying there, and fellow Red Shoe members. If you’ve never volunteered at The House, we strongly encourage you to jump in sooner than later. It is a wonderful way to begin to appreciate what goes on in The House every day. Events – The Red Shoe Social Events allow the group to socialize, get to know one another, and build networks among young professionals in Baltimore. The Red Shoe Crew hosts two main social events throughout the year, a “Red Shoe Brew” to kick off the year, and our annual meeting in September. These events will serve as an opportunity to not only raise awareness about the Red Shoes, but also provide a casual setting to introduce new people to the group. Signature Event – Our signature event is the Red Shoe Shuffle, which is a 5k road race benefiting the House. The race takes place every April.
