WE HIT OUR $400,000 RED SHOE SHUFFLE GOAL
RAISED TO DATE:$408,000
It’s been said that sometimes, real superheroes live in the hearts of small children fighting big, big battles.
At the Ronald McDonald House, we know this to be true – because we see them every day. They may not wear boots and masks and leap tall buildings in a single bound but this past Sunday they WERE wearing their capes. In fact, there were 42 of these caped crusaders who came out to help represent the close to 1,500 children who have been to RMHC Baltimore since we shuffled this time last year and the 38,000 children who have come through our doors since 1982.
They joined thousands of others who got up early and braved the cold to commemorate our last Shuffle on Lexington Street. This time next year, we will be IN our New House! This is because of you and this event. This year’s Lucky 7 Red Shoe Shuffle helped raise $408,000, helping to bring our grand total for the past seven years to more than $2.5M! Is it a coincidence that we reached our goal on 4/08? We think not. At the House, we call that a McMiracle and they happen here all the time. I hope each of you will take 30 seconds today to stop, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and reflect on this accomplishment.
So from the bottom of our – and all our caped crusaders and their families – hearts, THANK YOU for helping to keep the wind beneath their capes each and every day, and for upholding our annual tradition of helping to make Shuffle Sunday the happiest day of the year in Baltimore!
